One of the biggest misconceptions that I face as an internet-based network marketer is that it is impossible to build your business online. Today, I’m going to share my real life experience surrounding this subject and hopefully shed some light on the truth behind this issue.
Chris Kent, Co-Founder of Numis Network, says that the absolute fastest way to build a network marketing organization is through contacting your warm market.
Chris is absolutely right, but being “warm” is only significant to your market; meaning, you don’t have to know them at all for the connection to be “warm.” As long as they know, like and trust YOU, this is a “warm” contact for the sake of business. So, the way you rebuild your warm market after burning through your friends and family is to create a new following of people who know, like and trust you online.
This type of “warm” contact is actually stronger than friends and family because it’s established based on the value they see in you without filtering the opportunity through your past failures, weaknesses, etc. It’s nearly impossible for mom and dad or your best friend from the neighborhood to override that knowledge about you. This doesn’t mean that you don’t share your opportunity with them, but now you can go into the situation with both eyes open. Expect resistance – they know you too well!
My version of a “warm” market doesn’t know that stuff about you, so they don’t have those mental blocks when talking to you.
Imagine getting a phone call from someone out of the blue who says that you’ve been an inspiration to them through your personal story. They reveal to you that they view all of your content and feel as if they know you. Because of this connection, they decide to join you in business, all because they see you as a “friend” or even “family member.” When you pick up the phone and call this type of prospect, it’s the warmest reception you can get because you are a “friend.”
This can’t happen to someone who does not know how to rebuild their warm market. Without this skill, you are left to tackle the “cold” market. If you thought friends and family were tough, wait until you talk to a joker who doesn’t know you.
The other day I was speaking to a young lady who told me a very powerful story of building relationships unconsciously. One day while shopping, she passed by a woman and immediately thought, “I know her.” The challenge was, she couldn’t recall how she knew the lady. It dawned on her later that the woman she saw was someone she passed by on her way to work every day that stood at a bus terminal near her home.
Seeing this woman over and over registered in her sub-conscious this person as someone she knew, but in reality she did not know her at all.
When I write articles and especially when I cut videos, I’m positioning myself in front of people consistently and the wonderful phenomena of “knowing me” starts to take root. I’ve literally created hundreds of “warm market” connections by simply becoming that woman standing at the bus terminal in the minds of those that follow me, but my approach gets me closer to being a real “friend” than the girl at the bus terminal. I’m making a deliberate impact in the lives of many people via the internet.
